On my way to (sunny!?) Manchester for the #ManchesterMultiscale2025 conference!
Looking forward to delving into quantum/atomistic/coarse-grained/continuum modelling of biomolecules and materials ⚛️

We had a great lion dance outside by the teaching labs today!

Happy Year of the 🐍!!

I wonder if they were aware that the concept of ‘protein structure with matrix-like background’ was used already for this @cellpress.bsky.social Structure cover, that we made in 2010 for doi.org/10.1016/j.st...

(Only we used protein sequences as the ‘matrix’ symbols! They’re just a bit faint)

I was doing some tidying today and came across this RSC Chemistry World. The cover highlights the 2013 #compchem Nobel Prize - bittersweet now that (my scientific ‘grandfather’) Karplus has sadly passed away.

Nice #chemsky cover, though! But…

Wishing everyone taking a break over the Xmas/end-of-year closure a wonderful time!

It’s been a great 2024 for the group, with many #enzyme #compchem conference presentations (& prizes!), 3 PhD vivas, and some lovely group activities!
(Here our group meal a couple of weeks ago)

Weekend… so time to give Buddy a run!
(He doesn’t bring a ball back. He just runs round with it, sometimes throwing it up himself, until he’s had enough…)

Very happy to announce Dr. Xuan Gao passed her viva last Monday! 🎉
(3rd from the group in the last 5 months!)
It's been great having her in the group, doing some v. nice #compchem #enzyme work.

Time to do what I’ve never done on the other site: introduce you to Bud, our lovely rescue Lurcher. He *loves* human contact.
I’ll post the odd picture of him, between the science, if you like it!

On my way back from a great #TrEnCa2024 meeting, another stop in Barcelona… with another lovely (naturally vegan) meal - traditional Ethiopian 🇪🇹😋
November 22, 2024 at 8:42 PM
What a way to wake up this morning!
So lucky to be at #TrEnCa2024 - not just for the #enzyme science.

Many reasons to love #Barcelona - and this is one: Easy to find a nice vegan lunch, with a wonderful cinnamon swirl for desert!
Making you jealous, @lynnkamerlin.bsky.social ? 😄😋

Nothing like a veg-box to bring a bit of mystery to cooking an evening meal.
Is it a potato? A parsnip? A carrot?
