Beautiful funeral Church service for my father in law, V delivered the eulogy which was as kind and beautiful as her dad - but haven’t eaten today and that wafer the bloke in the white dress gave me didn’t go too far…

Funeral day for my beautiful father in law Terry; Laurence has just arrived from Canberra, he will be a pall bearer, going to be a full on Catholic ceremony and then the wake - and of course I’ll be thinking about how Terry’s death will affect everyone as dad’s did mine - big day.

whatever you do in life, never stop learning, never stop being challenged in your ideas, question everything, it will probably make you very annoying as I've learned in my nearly 65 years, but seriously the alternatives are so bleak they don't bear thinking about Donald.

had a nap and when I woke up had an intense desire to listen to the late great Leonard Cohen - I think, Who By Fire, a Jewish meditation on death is perhaps my favourite, which he first recordced with Janis Ian.

did you know that one of the songs many guitarists have sought to cover and Stevie Ray Vaughan gave it a good crack, was Jimi Hendrix' Little Wing - did you also know it was less that two and a half minutes long?

l think Keating can take some pride in the Lib’s demise - he vilified Howard before, during and after government, setting in train both a notion of revenge and self loathing in JWH, which had the desired trickle down effect starting with Abbott, ending with Morrison - a policy vacuum train wreck.

flying to Brisbane this morning for Terry's funeral tomorrow, I think V and the other brothers and grandson have been holding it together pretty well, they were so close to him - Virginia has been an absolute marvel over the last three years, caring for her dad as much as possible since my dad died.
