Easily Bessent. The current US government is duplicitous. Lies constantly. Cannot be trusted in any circumstance. Any deal is liable to be reneged on at the whims of the mad emperor. Their word is worth nothing. Their signatures are worth even less. The world knows this and trusts China far more.

Bombs don’t win wars, troops on the ground win wars. This is exemplified by modern warfare, but it was true back in WW2. The USSR inflicted 70-75% of all Nazi deaths in WW2. Its not even close or debatable. The USSR is largely responsible for defeating the Nazis and without them they probably win.

Relative to Europe absolutely yes. The problem is there is a rest of the world outside of the west. The western share of global gdp is declining. Within that western share Europe is falling much faster than the US. The entire west is declining, the US is just falling slower.

Europe has been losing badly to the US economically over the past few decades

We’re living through an era of Neo Fire-Eaters. More clear than ever we’re in the 1850s.

Like if you’re the average American, buying a house gets harder every generation. In the 80s a house was 3.5x income, and now a house is 6x income. In a generation a house will be 10x income. That is why people are gambling.

Other similar measures show the same thing, since the Great Recession Americans have been consistently unhappy
January 14, 2025 at 7:14 PM
What’s interesting is a strong majority of Americans have believed the country is on the wrong track going back to almost the Great Recession. I think its a big reason why the incumbent President’s party has not won re-election since 2012. If Dems win in 28 that’s 20 years by the 32 election.

Rich people have the resources and connections to make their complaints heard, sure. But that doesn’t mean only rich people are unhappy with the plan. Polls have shown a large % dislike congestion pricing. Regardless, rich people will pay and be fine. Working class doesn’t have that option.

In a US where each generation it gets *harder* to make it, of course the party/President in power is going to become unpopular. So as the median income to median housing price gap increases we should expect more political whiplash and anger.
December 3, 2024 at 1:55 PM
The unpopularity of whichever President/party is in power is because a majority feels the country is going in the wrong direction and has for a long time. Why? Because of the growing gap between median incomes & median housing prices, hospital costs, college costs, basically all impt domestic stuff

Here’s my hand drawn new #NBA court. The paint is widened and worth 2. Mid range is worth 2.5. New extended 3 point line. Makes 3s harder to take and lessens their impact on the game. The .5 is a problem, but it can be solved by saying you have to win by a full point.
