I would suggest that doing so enables that behavior, despite understandable feelings of urgency to do so! Adult children who estrange their parents are engaging in an addiction to control and manipulation in which they have an insatiable appetite to exert retribution and punishment; to blame others (meaning parents, grandparents, stepparents) for their own life situation of misery and poor choices rendering them in a state of passive hostility, masquerading as "no-contact." Each time the estranged parents reaches out to the estranged adult child, that adult child "fixes" on their distraction from their own internal disorders. Let them be as adults to their own path that they've chosen, however painful it is for you / us parents. Healthy, mature people do not behave this way, absent actual abuse. The use of the word "abuse" is thrown around like a cliché too often by too many adults' self-ascribed "victimization." Absent that, real abuse perpetrated by the adult children upon their parent(s), grandparents, stepparents. This behavior is a social trend, fueled by self-appointed ("wanna be") therapists, social media and/or licensed clinicians that (unethically) align with the adult children's cherry picked narrative giving sanction to the adult children to out against the parent. The more the parent "chases" the adult child, the appetite to exact retribution increases for them, and humiliation for the "chasing" parent, grandparent, or stepparent.
