Sorry to be obtuse. Just frustrated at the way the tree people use the cooling issue to stop development because existing trees provide shade. Would be nice to be able to talk about cooling design.

Tree Action in Seattle is using this argument to oppose removing trees at the UW Blakely Village redevelopment for student family housing. I don’t know if the design includes cooling or even if they’re really cutting down loads of trees. But opposing affordable housing just seems daft

Um, Napoleon?

Try not to overthink it. If you want people to vote, you have to offer them something more than “we’re not the other guy”. Advocating for policies that people want, like “affordability”, matters.

Actually, some of us would be happy to live in any kind of Swedish home as long as it has free healthcare, free childcare, great transportation and free education. Not to mention rent control.

I remember it was inside the Pacific Place Mall.

Scarf feels French. French people know how to protest

Watch out federal thugs. Dangerous antifa white lady grandma here. Pearls or scarf for the march? Going with the scarf this time.

Had my 6 year old grandson for the day and we went to the DT library. It was a huge hit. The views, the ramp, the red room. So cool! And books!

Right. Stopping in Lacey which is like 20 minutes from Olympia by car. So you need a car anyway. Weirdly, train tracks go right through DT. But no passenger train.

I don’t get how dressing like a victim is useful. It’s exactly what they want. Now if you want to dress up as Wonderwoman….

The fact that Amtrak doesn’t stop in Olympia, nor does it have bus service from Seattle, is absurd. Can we spend the money on that?
October 8, 2025 at 6:28 AM
Correct, and becoming Northern Ireland during the Troubles isn’t a great look either. If those assholes want to shoot me while I’m peaceful protesting in my heels and pearls , I’m okay with that as long as someone records it and it goes viral. That’s all I ask.

This is not the Nazis in Germany and the only real hope is to get the disinterested to wake up. Documenting their atrocities to non violent protesters changes minds.

Use of the conditional would help: “even if Tylenol had been found to affect… which it has not…”

I just want someone to run against Rivera. She is such a tool.

I usually preface my city council comments by saying I’ve lived here for 60 years through loads of changes including the Boeing recession and we can’t keep living in the past, etc. I like to try to shame them into having a vision for the future. Never works but whatever.

Just for comparison. Paris Metro trains. Every 2 minutes.

Still, it’s cheap comedy to try them on in the dressing room.

Love this place. And their Mojitos.

Oh yeah and the guy who owned the paintings stolen by the Nazis “ died after falling in the hold of the vessel carrying him to safety and breaking his neck.” I hope his heirs are successful in getting them back.

I stand and sing the national anthem because I refuse to cede it to the fascists. And because I love the way it ends in a question. But when they play God bless America I sit down and mutter a few obscenities.

It’s almost as though an increase in housing supply can result in lower or stabilized rents.
