I often go back to the first time I read that (under some pretty conservative definitions) the lifetime rate of sexual abuse for women was above 30%, which was brain-breaking in a way that wouldn't have been for a woman.

What makes all of this surreal is the deliberate informational breakdown: Women around these men *know* and many of them have told those they could tell. There's a lot of institutional and social energy spent on what amounts to a global field of nearly-continuous cover-ups pretty much everywhere.

That said, just ICE raids etc are teaching nothing about the US minorities didn't already know, Musk' success and the sycophancy around him (although he's innovating in that he's paying for an AI to join the chorus) are not news the pretty much any women ever. 3/3

_Pace_ @adapalmer.bsky.social , I think we're collectively writing some sort of Pynchonian surreal addition to "The Prince" where our ideological understanding of the drivers of worth and success have to be adjusted in psychologically painful ways. 2/
