I try to remember that the times I’m not prototyping, I miss being able to return to “arts and crafts” mode haha

Helps me push through the labor of it all! That and good shows and podcasts

I honestly feel concern for TDT becoming so inundated with games they just don’t feel the joy that any individual game can provide anymore—it’s obvious to me in the ways they talk about games.

Games and design and play still have so much space for joy. Never forget the feeling these things give us.

I’d love to see more gorgeous editions of Amabel games—and Westphalia would be a great option for a glow-up!

I love my copy of Irish Gauge very very much 💕

Never played Westphalia, not sure about buying it—though definitely interested in playing it!!

Anyone at Pax Unplugged wanna play it together?

I think publishers that spend too much time worrying about having *no bad feelings whatsoever* are missing the point of what makes games enjoyable to people who play them.

Bad feelings are memorable. They’re exciting and bombastic.

I love rolling 0-0 in Root, because it tells a funnier story.

So bad feeling moments aren’t only bad relative to something in the game that makes them bad.

What that is, is so exciting to me. I want to fully explore that line between what is “good bad” and “too bad”.

Our collective design knowledge can only expand the more we tackle this, not avoid it.

Avoiding “bad feelings” are a complete misinformation that isn’t the way great games get made. The best most beloved games have bad feelings.

UNO has bad feelings. Catan and Jenga have bad feelings.

What do they have in common? They sell.

100% agreed!

I think people who like all getting points and who cares whose numbers add up the best are mostly interested in parallel play, coziness, and puzzles—and I totally get why we need space for that too.

Me getting +2 and you getting +1 has little to no emotional impact, unlike me getting +1 and you getting 0.

700% polyester seemed excessive…

It took a long while but I finally got 30 more fully printed sheets of the player aids out of the printer!

Those machines can be so finicky and require a lot of headaches and resets—not to mention reprinting any errors that came out… but I’m so excited to be into the fun part, cutting them all out!
