Sandro Wagner was the hot commodity ahead of the season and a major get for Augsburg.

It has to be noted though that this was his first job at this level and coaches often have to fail before they succeed.

Plus, Augsburg always seemed a bit of an odd choice to begin with.

What stood out to me about #VWFC's win vs. SD isn't how they won (ruthlessly), but it's who helped them win: longer-tenured players like Andrés Cubas (at the club since 22'), Brian White (since 21') & Ali Ahmed (since 20')

That embodies the resilience of this 2025 team👇

Müller on the upcoming duel against Messi:

"It's not about Messi against Müller. It is Miami against the Whitecaps. They maybe rely a bit more on him than we do on me, because we are such a good group."
Thomas Müller fully embracing the Johnny Canuck look. “It’s true! I look like a hockey player.”

Someone will totally win that final 1-0 now…

In all seriousness it’s the right teams to get there. Let’s see if it will be an actual spectacle.
Miami and Vancouver are not only worthy MLS Cup opponents, they were 1st and 2nd respectively in total goals and total xG (ASA's model).

This should make for an attacking final instead of the typical "cagey" type of game we usually get until that opening goal is scored.

Should be lots of fun.
This is the MLS Cup matchup you wanted if you wanted the highest likelihood of an incredible game. I'm pumped.

Takaoka is screaming at Johnson for not playing the whistle. The Whitecaps goalkeeper is right. The ref has been awful but you can't just stop playing.
November 30, 2025 at 3:57 AM
Pablo Sisniega sent off! The goalkeeper is well outside of his box and catches a Whitecaps player to prevent what would have been 4-1 surely.

Whitecaps now with one player more with ten minutes to go.

Hey Chucky Lozano it rings through Snapdragon. How will the Whitecaps respond to this?
GOOOAL! San Diego 1-3 VWFC! There it is! San Diego pull one back one back. Lozano the scorer.

Remarkable first half for the Whitecaps, who are 45 minutes from a trip to Miami.

Jesper Sorensen tells Apple TV they need to score again. That’s how they’ll win.

Sat back vs LA FC last week and nearly blew it.

You would think that the league would be pretty pleased to get a Messi vs Müller final. The German set that narrative early in so many interviews.

Müller would market the sh't out of that game. It's a shame Messi never speaks.
November 30, 2025 at 3:10 AM
One area of concern has been Thomas Müller, and I wonder if you take him off at halftime to rest him.

The German has been slow on the ball and struggled to find his footing on the pitch at times. I know he wasn't 100% fit going into this game, and it is showing.

GOOOOAL! San Diego 0-3 VWFC! Brian White! That should do it.
November 30, 2025 at 3:01 AM
Sørensen livid. He hates what he sees from his team, is angry with the inconsistent refereeing (he has been equally bad for both sides), and, in general, seems angry with the world.

I get it, though. This is a man who loves control, and right now, he and his team aren't in control.
November 30, 2025 at 2:53 AM
If I see that correctly that came off Sisniega's back before it crossed the line. But that goal was all Sabbi. He worked that in the box and made the magic happen.

Either way, Whitecaps are off to a flying start. They have dominated San Diego all over the pitch.
GOOOOOAL! San Diego 0-2 VWFC! Another well worked goal by the Whitecaps that somehow crossed the line in the end. Looked like an own goal.

GOOOAL! San Diego 0-1 VWFC! That was so well worked and finished by Brian White. Whitecaps take the lead at Snapdragon.
