I wish people would realize that one of the overarching narratives of cybersecurity is to stop businesses from making decisions that hurt themselves, not some fancy trick to stop adversaries

When you look at the nature of breaches I see two repeating themes.

If companies avoided doing absolutely stupid things and only made mistakes once then the Infosec staffing level could be redoced by 75%

I don’t foresee that happening #infosec #cybersecurity

But there is a challenge at hand

If you can’t win in a competitive riding you can’t effectively form a national government!

The Canadian election was a best case for first past the post where the party with the most seats plus any other party can enact legislation.

No five year blank cheque for one party with 40 percent of the vote. But it still quashed the voices of the smaller parties

For someone who supports electoral reform and wants and end to the first past the post system the Canadian election is a near ideal outcome for an fptp system

There is no majority government “blank cheque” and the winning party pus the support of any other party will be able to pass legislation
April 29, 2025 at 12:02 PM
With every Canadian election the perverse incentives of first past the post show up. The winners and regional parties get many more seats and power than their popular vote suggests they should and the smaller by broadly supported parties get punished.

Even if you like this result it is not fair

Canada and Denmark/greenland have had a longstanding border dispute that should serve as a lesson for how allies respectfully disagree.

Ask yourself what would two parties that “fight” like this respond to a common threat?

The angry punk kid of the 90’s is extremely annoyed that political punkbands I loved like propagandhi have been upgraded from warnings to prophets in my middle age,

Not the right kind of promotion

It’s time to make America realize why we used to be such a valued ally by taking that away.

I don’t think I can say that I feel a single Canadian politician is disloyal to their country.

They might put their own self interest ahead of the national interest but they aren’t working to harm the national interest directly.

South of us however?

It looks like an electoral implosion may be on its way.

The CPC have had an attack line of “Trudeau Trudeau Trudeau” has been in place for so long that without Trudeau their entire platform rings hollow.

If liberal support recovers they will have grasped defeat from the jaws of victory

America it’s not you Canada is angry at. Most of you are great and are as shocked as we are with the tariffs to allies thing

That having been said. A lot of Canadians don’t feel comfortable travelling down the American trade route until you put the guardrails back on over on your side.
February 7, 2025 at 3:16 AM
On the trade and tariff front the threat was enormous gh to poison the well

There is no “un-poison” a well. It destroys the demand and the faith in that source. Even if the tariffs go away it’s still become a compromised source to us
