When I get my paintings completed for the seasonal shows, I sacrifice a canvas or two for process and for fun.

An oil painting of a pair of fantastical birds. Grief is an intensely personal process, with an unpredictable trajectory and random re-emergence of emotion. It can ebb and flow, rise and fall, be bitter or be softly sweet. Sometimes grief never ends - just becomes part of our bones. Especially loss without explanation, loss without reason, loss without death (as in abandonment). Grief then has feathers, and roosts and flies and pecks and scratches. I am trying to befriend it, my grief. It likes cookies and naps.
