My (American) kids were taught to memorize reading in AUS too. My oldest (3rd) tested 100th percentile in AUS for reading and I tried to explain it was because of her phonics background. This was my youngest’s K very low level reader.

I can’t believe these were the friendly spiders. As an American living in QLD I almost fainted and called my neighbor to come capture it for me.
