Thanking that other (less monetised) search engines might be less AI focused in the first place.

Great article. But in this - “For now, the US is checking out of the global trade system it created. It can continue without it.” - what can continue? The US or the global trade system? I’m guessing you mean the latter?

Thinking like a Trump (4)

5. More likely, the conflict ends with some sort of Ukrainian surrender, which I can blame on European nations.

3. Withdrawal of all US involvement in Ukraine’s self-defence, including resources which no-one else possesses (e.g. Starlink), say it’s a European issue, over to Europeans.
4. If Ukraine somehow survives, I still get the rare earths without having to help defend Ukraine.

Thinking like a Trump (2)

How to get there
1. Negotiate a deal with Ukraine re minerals, with as little as possible in return. Definitely no security guarantees.
2. Negotiate a separate deal with Russia for those same resources, should they be under Russian control, using as a bargaining chip -

It’s extraordinary for me that it’s taken 100 years and the rise of Sinn Fein for two parties with almost identical policies to overcome their origins and work together

Depends how you define ‘Britain’. If it really means ´England and Wales, oh yes, lowland Scotland too’, maybe. But not if you want to include Scotland’s Highlands and Islands
