My "Require alt text before posting" setting got randomly cleared, at some point. If you use this setting, you may want to make sure it's still turned on.

What's wild is that they're assuming (without any basis I know of) that there is a 5x productivity gain to be had from current technology, and working backwards from that assumption.

Covid surges shouldn't surprise people, at this point. They happen twice a year: One in the summer, and one in the winter. '25 is shaping up like '23, with a late (northern hemisphere) summer surge that is probably going to blur into the winter surge.

This technology is in a phase where it's currently provoking a lot of exuberant irrationality. Some of that will turn around, as the shiny new toy loses its luster, and heads get clearer. But we unfortunately find ourselves in an era of society backing over the severe tire damage strip repeatedly.
