I’m done moving now!

In June, I joined @pik-potsdam.bsky.social as a working group leader. I’m excited to get to contribute to PIK’s work on understanding the Earth system, in particular the ocean’s role in it, and the impacts of climate change 🌍🌊

This is what it can look like to live on top of a mine. Here you see Malmberget before it was removed. My partner lived a few hundred metres from this big hole in the ground up until five years ago. The ground would shake, every day. The tall building is 13 stories. My school is also in the picture.

Satellites are very helpful here, but they can only see the surface. Collaboration is still needed for sub-surface data 🌊

The extremely low Antarctic sea ice extent of this year has been on my mind a lot lately, thinking about how to best explain it to non-scientists. This article gave me some helpful phrasings.
