In this incredibly dark time, it's been breath-giving to teach Environmental Justice to graduate and PhD students. Here's a reunion of students past and present at Rock Creek park this past weekend!

Now more than ever, we need to connect dots between far-right regimes, their supremacist and fascistic agendas, and their fueling of grossly unequal racial ecologies. Honored to be delivering a keynote explaining what "climate scapegoating" is to a dedicated group of graduate student writers at SIS.

We had a double authors-meet-critics session "Capitalism, Criminality, Corruption: The City in India and Latin America" at the @geographers.bsky.social 2025 meeting--a timely space to discuss the (mis)uses of corruption discourse, growing oligarchy & ethnonationalism, and political mobilization.

Doing research on colorblind enviro racism by looking at the comments section of my LinkedIn post on Trump’s closure of EJ offices.

Trump defines environmental justice as tantamount to discrimination against white people, and is calling for the elimination of all EJ offices. Ergo, Trump endorses a white supremacist heirarchy in which only whites have access to clean water, air, and land.

As a PhD student at UC Berkeley, I hugely admired Michael Burawoy's "global ethnography" and how he uplifted his students and valued their research and theory. This book stands as testament to his deeply caring and collaborative persona--what a towering intellect. Rest in Power Professor Burawoy 💔✊🏾
