Starnberg 8:00 19.12.2024 when waiting for the next sbahn because the ersatz bus was too full and late to make the first sbahn and that the train in between was too full to take any passagers … public transport around Munich is the worst it’s been - but what a place to be waiting !

I presented the LMU Open Science Center @lmu-osc.bsky.social at the Open Science day of the University of Mannheim - find the slides here osf.io/hqvxs to get insights into the strategies our resercher-led initiative is implementing to change the research culture at LMU Munich and beyond!
The summary vision of the LMU Open Science Center: we started with providing peer to peer training, and building communities of practice in 2017, we will start in 2025 a train the trainer and switch to open programmes which will multiply the number of practitioners across fields in the next three years, which should also expand the support for researchers in their grant applications and in their implementation. We will continue our meta research programmes to inform stakeholders on the design of incentives and policies. Ultimately, we hope that our effort in promoting open and reliable science can also help with re establishing public trust and recognition for science.

📝Eleven strategies for making reproducible research & open science training the norm at research institutions.

Writen in collaboration with 50+ researchers involved in promoting open science after a virtual brainstorming event -was lots of fun !

The eleven strategies are concentrated in three areas: (1) adapting research assessment criteria and program requirements (cyan), (2) offering training (purple), and (3) building communities (yellow). While Strategy 11 is part of the ‘build communities’ category, it is placed at the center to highlight the importance of building connections with others working on strategies in other areas. Institutions can support those working on the eleven strategies by allocating resources and monitoring impact. These activities are shown as two blue rings encircling the eleven strategies. The small multiples (small versions of the main graph) highlight the strategies that different stakeholders can directly use at their institutions.
