But the reality is too ugly for many, and does not award you any power. So instead TERFs have volunteered to hold up a very small minority in the world and use them as a scapegoat for what really goes on, in the hope that the cis men actually going out and hurting women will pat them on the head.

TERFs are a good example of one of the biggest stumbling blocks in people embracing feminism; having an honest and accurate view of how the world really works is too hard and alienating for many. The reality of gender and gendered life is horrifying.
