New planters looking good at Leigham Avenue / Leigham Court Road junction, Streatham. Campaigned hard to ensure original community ones accidentally removed were replaced by Council. @mmasters21.bsky.social & myself enjoyed helping Father Nature team to plant them up on Friday.

Spent an hour this morning with Council's School Street Officer outside Julian's Primary School, Streatham - to see how Council could further support school's efforts to bus pupils to temporary site, and also mitigate disruption to local residents. Useful discussions with Head, inc on coach routes.
September 24, 2025 at 8:40 AM
Much welcomed 1st day back for Julian's Primary School, Streatham. Til at least Jan, pupils will be bussed from closed site to ex-Goldfinch School on Tooting borders.

Councillor Masters & myself spending morning on Sackville Estate - talking to residents; dealing with casework; admiring new planters Marianna worked with community to build; celebrating parcel delivery point on Estate; and now participating in TRA AGM ... with funday to come.

It started with 1 resident from Wavel Court coming to my surgery to complain about flytipping on Leigham Avenue. Now today that same resident joined Marianna & myself, and a group of neighbours from the street, in reclaiming that space for the community. Tnx also to Council's Freshview team.

Manor Court (and Streatham Court) looking lovely in the early summer sunshine. Alan, the estate manager, said I must say that about all the places in my ward. But he & his team deserve special praise for the effort they put in.

Here is statement from Cllr Masters & myself responding to mistake by Council contractors in removing the planters. We received written & verbal reassurances that planters would be protected, and share resident upset at their removal. We'll be working with residents and Council to rectify situation.

Recovering after yesterday's exertions by the Brighton seaside. Beautiful views of the coast, though I did miss the relative flatness and shade of the London Marathon.

I visited Valleyfield Rd earlier to speak with residents & better understand road safety / driver behaviour impacts of CPZ introduction.

Together with MP, we are asking Council to examine how to improve situation.

A good start: Council will be relocating e-scooter bay currently by Valley Rd jct.

Success. After a false start last year (election intervened), the Tobacco and Vapes Bill has finally made it through the Commons. Bringing the prospect of a smokefree generation closer. Well done @crukpolicy.bsky.social @ashorguk.bsky.social & all who have got it this far. Now over to the Lords.

Great to be out in sunshine today celebrating the start of improvement works to Streatham Green - to make it a more accessible, family-friendly & community-orientated space. Thanks to Lambeth Council & others for funding; and to Streatham Business Improvement District for managing the project.

Outside Sunnyhill School today at school drop off time - assessing road danger matters and talking with parents. Recognise resident & PTA concerns around pupil / pedestrian safety along Valley Road, esp near entrance to School. We have a meeting scheduled with Council officers about this next week.
March 14, 2025 at 9:16 AM
Morning. Post school drop-off, sunny walkabout with a resident to assess the pavement on Wellfield Road and Wellfield Walk. This was one of the actions I took from Friday's resident meeting with Steve Reed MP. Will write up report and submit to Council.

Brightening up the winter / global blues, CRUK's #Winter10K Run is a well-timed chance to be part of something good. Love the choirs & bands around the course, as well as the polar bear and husky support.

Out with @mmasters21.bsky.social and local Labour party members on Wellfield Road this morning. Some good conversations with residents - about parking, anti-social behaviour, housing repairs and more. Also great to peak into Railside Gardens - community growing space run by local volunteers.
February 22, 2025 at 1:27 PM
Popped along to a volunteering session at Sunnyhill Nature Garden this morning. That slow emergence from Winter given a helping hand. Looking forward to pond life returning too. A worthy local project to get involved in, if you fancy a few hours outdoors. Details on sign at entrance (pictured).

Update from Lambeth Council on Thames Water works at Crown Point - affecting traffic and 417 bus route.

Good news: road scheduled to reopen by Sunday pm.
February 21, 2025 at 5:00 PM
You are being disingenuous. I already gave you an answer. Copied here.

The main issue for me is the Council not giving residents a specific 2hr option in the consultation. I think the Council was wrong.

However, I also think that using words like "imposing" re idea of a CPZ is incorrect too.

Talked to residents this morning in a part of Streatham Wells affected by the ongoing low pressure / no water situation.

Joined on doorstep by Cllr Masters, Holly & Ridhwan.

We checked how people were coping, and ensured they knew how they could get latest info from Thames Water.
February 15, 2025 at 3:06 PM
Latest from Thames Water (late Tue night) on burst pipe and water supply issues in Streatham / West Norwood area. Affecting part of Wells ward. "Hang tight, we are working to fix it" is summary of their key message.
February 12, 2025 at 12:38 AM
Not a fun evening ahead for myself and many residents in parts of Streatham & West Norwood. Seems a burst main is now compounding issue and leaving many of us without any water. I know Thames Water are on the case. But that doesn't exactly fill anyone with hope!
