i'm really not joking about keeping an eye on ishgardian rpers. garlean characters are a lot more obvious, but there is something sinister about certain ishgard rpers (and some communities) who use medievalism in their writing as a means of punching down against "backward" cultures.

re: racism in the ffxiv space, you have to remove bigots from your rp communities too. this is non-negotiable to me. the amount of times i've seen people still rp with bad actors because it's "just roleplay" is too damn high. i've seen too many people look the other way from cruel, awful people

malaqi grew up in the steppe aka bloodsport capital of the world so he’s pretty used to it. if someone needs to die, he’s pretty okay being the one to make that happen. it weighs as it should etc but the himaa have some specific and mostly healthy views on killing i think

estinien is like painfully a flame character but i made malaqi before i knew anything about him and noticed so many parallels in their backstories, their personal struggles, and their natural arc as characters that i had to put them together

when i first started playing xiv on a terrible old laptop i gave malaqi that splotchy full-face makeup because i thought his skin looked too nice. it didn’t even look like that but the game ran so bad i couldn’t tell lmao
