This is like Blair fining hospitals for not meeting treatment targets.

They were failing to meet those targets because they were under-resourced. They were under-resourced because of a shortage of funds.
"So you're going to massively increase funding for Local Authorities in order to build suitable homes for rent at reasonable prices?"

"Good Lord, no, we're going to fine them for breaking our arbitrary rules they have no choice but to break."

One of the biggest problems with British journalism is that nobody really asks the writers follow up questions. For example, an editor who wasn’t a 20 year old freelancer could have asked Ed, “what about the non white people also born after the year 2000?”
No surprise that Ed West thinks you have to be white for London to be "your city", but still shocking that the *London* Standard prints this stuff.

[NB 1/2 of Londoners born in 2000 were not "white British"]

It’s great that every “review” by this government is led by compliant shitheads so they can deliver the bigotry or cuts they want
A reminder that Wes Streeting and the Labour government have deliberately chosen two of the worst possible experts to lead the review into overdiagnosis by the way. People already entrenched in that belief who will absolutely manipulate findings to suit their ideological crusade.
Alarm over government’s choices to lead ‘over-diagnosis’ review that could help ministers cut benefits
The government’s decision to commission a review of alleged “over-diagnosis” of mental health conditions and neurodivergence has caused alarm among many disabled people, with fears that it will all…

This is the sensible moderate government you all kicked and screamed and shat your pants to get. And there will never be a reckoning, because even a small amount of contrition or accountability would open the door to questions about who knew what and when, and who stayed ignorant to keep safe.
ID cards, limiting trial by jury, and now "plans for a huge rollout for facial recognition cameras in cities, towns and villages across the country"

It would be better if we avoided the (a) delegitimising, and (b) obviously false suggestion that Gaza solidarity is an out of touch middle class lefty preoccupation. If the suggestion was inadvertent, its likely because the topic is being shoehorned into some intra-left beef where it doesn't belong.
Is the suggestion here that Palestine is an example of a middle-class lefty issue that working class people of colour don't want to hear about? Or am I misunderstanding?
