5 years ago i told an organizer that i was working on a book about the displacement surrounding the Obama Center and he said well I’m still here. do you want to want to write about my displacement or fight to prevent it? I put the book aside for 4 years. And it was worth it. Time to write.

organizing in a coalition humbles you. truly no one can own the whole thing; you step up & back & build & re-build. it’s a relay marathon, requiring a lot of honesty & canvassing & 1-1s & discipline if you really want to win. it sharpened my power analysis, shifted my power response. so grateful.

ICE advanced again, started firing at photographers/press intentionally. Took a nasty lick to the face, unsure if pepper ball or rubber bullet.
