"Killers leeches and entitlement junkies" sounds like the current Republican administration to me. Actually, the entire post really fits for them.

I volunteered along with some teens at the Quilt display on the Mall in the 1990's. Our role was to help folks find their loved one/friend's panel on the ground. So many heartbreaking stories of lives lost. We won't forget them.

So Witkoff, a real estate guy, and Kushner, the corrupt son-in-law who couldn't even get a security clearance, are representing our country in these talks?? The Ukranians should kick them out of the room. How degrading. Rubio is bad but at least has some knowledge of government.

The NY Times Magazine on Sept. 30 contained only one lengthy story: "America's vigilantes: in Afghanistan the green berets fostered a culture of lawlessness. Then they brought it home".
It's not easy reading but essential context for current events.

TFG. I foolishly thought we might get through one day without hearing from this megalomaniac bundle of neuroses. Nope.

Same here. Was thinking about my uncle walking out of T-Day dinner after calling my brother a draft dodger and other assorted insults. Also my own screaming at my dad for being part of the war machine. Families were torn apart back then.

Absolutely the best online source for accurate info on gardens and landscape. Search engines give you a sea of garden influencers who may or may not know what they're talking about.I always add "extension" to my queries.

Big planes had a bar area where people drink & smoke.

But even just 15 years ago, planes often had empty seats so you had a chance of stretching out, and seat selection & luggage were part of the fare.

The airlines say that customers want rock bottom prices, but it makes them a lot more profit.

Why? I'm curious if any locals can shed some light here. He got walloped last year but is trying again? In my experience, voters don't usually reward someone they've already rejected.
Are there any other viable D candidates? thanks

Me, also. I hadn't paid much attention to her as VP but I became more impressed with her as the campaign went on. I started watching c-span recordings of stump speeches as a way to deal w/my anxiety, and Harris connected with those crowds.

You're right - I had thought it started at 50 but that's only for folks with 20 years in. 62 isn't bad, though, and there's well-subsidized health insurance too. Getting any size of defined pension after 5 years of work is a big perk.
November 22, 2025 at 4:46 AM
For life, right? Exceptionally good deal for 5 years of "work" to the day, wouldn't you say? And after just having a 6-or-7 week paid vacation, retirement may be looking pretty sweet.

T(emporary) Protected status eligibility has to be renewed every 18 months. The govt. is supposed to evaluate if the same emergency situations still exist in the home country. It's no surprise that this administration has already refused to extend TPS for Haiti and Venezuela.

This is wonderful news! Congrats to everyone involved. It's been needed for such a long time and Tedford folks have worked so hard for years to bring it to fruition. Lives will be changed. Best wishes.

That's an interesting take. I've been thinking about the massive waste of court resources and $$$ being spent on all of these prosecutions, appeals, injunctions, etc. etc. It's been nonstop since January and I wonder how the system has time for anything else. But maybe a silver lining?

My brother moved to LA from New England in the late 70's. He told me that it was several months before he realized there were mountains, because they were covered by smog. I remember being horrified the first time I visited him, looking at this band of brown on the horizon. You could chew it.

A minor quibble, this judge reveals his political bias by using "Democrat Party" in his dissent. There's no such entity. There is a Democratic Party.

I don't know what it is about Jordan but just looking at him gives me the creeps. It's a visceral reaction, not intellectual, and is basically "slime".
And then he opens his mouth and there's much more to dislike.

I haven't read any of the source material but it sounds to me like he's dealing with Japanese Knotweed, incorrectly called bamboo by many. It is pernicious.

I believe Angus was 80 when he was re-elected last year. I realize Mills would be in her first term,so not exact comparison, but that doesn't make King any younger. I don't remember a lot of concern about his age? I may have been too focused on Trump to have paid close attention, though.
November 16, 2025 at 5:54 PM
Angus has always displayed a strong ego and a great deal of self-regard, even before he entered politics. I highly doubt the current wave of criticism will seriously impact him. This issue will soon be buried under the onslaught of daily crises from DJT, unless folks get loud about health insurance.

Thanks for the interview. A lot of people in Maine are still supporting Platner and lots of others have questions. People will make their own decisions despite the screeching of "Nazi!" on this platform, and more information helps.
I don't think he's anywhere near ready for the Senate.

Yes, but "before Poliquin" was pre-2015 and a lot has changed in CD2 since then. Androscoggin County, for instance, used to be solid blue in the mill towns like Lewiston and Jay. They've totally flipped. No more mills,no more unions. Big margins for Trump 3 times looks pretty red.
