On this National Mine Rescue Day of Recognition we honor those who signed up to risk their lives to save miners trapped by mine explosions, fires, Roof collapses and other dangers. Having seen first hand these brave rescuers in action they are truly the mining industry heroes.

Trump Admin plans to strip MSHA of authority to require mine operators to add safety/health protections for miners in mining plans. MSHA has used that authority for decades to prevent mine explosions,disasters,roof falls,black lung, etc. & saved countless lives. Another betrayal!

The Trump administration continues to deny miners the opportunity to get confidential chest X-Rays from the NIOSH “Miners Choice” mobile unit, withholding travel authorization. 25 years ago I worked with NIOSH/Congress to establish this critical unit to end this terrible plague. Need To Fix it Now!
