Mr. Cho: [Yeobo… just go to sleep.] Suddenly, there is a knock on the door. Mrs. Cho rushes to the door. Mrs. Cho: [Nicky-ya!] Mrs. Cho opens the door, smiling tearfully: [Nicky-ya, I’m here now!] She stops suddenly. We see it was Mina who knocked on the door, not Nick’s ghost. Mina: [Umma… I wanted to check on you—] With a sob, Mrs. Cho flings herself into Mina’s arms. Mina looks down at her mother with pity. Mina: [Let’s just go to bed. It’s late. C’mon… just look at the time.] Nick’s new grave overlooks the house. Mina’s final words are laid over an image of his makeshift tombstone. Mina: [It’s already too late.] [END.]

But Jordan told me once that there isn't really sch a thing.] In a flashback, Jordan raises their arm in a show of supernatural power, while Stephanie looks out fearfully from behind them. Stephanie: ["Spirits can do good things, and they can do bad things," he said. "It's more important to figure out why they're here and what they need rather than try to figure out if they're really good or really bad." I think the same is true for living people. They're just ghosts that haven't died yet, after all.] Mina looks at Stephanie. Stephanie blushes under her gaze. Mina smugly rests her hand on her chin. Mina: [You're smart, Steph. going to be double posting today to catch up on the missed page from earlier this week! Page 25 will be up in a few hours.
A black and white comic page numbered [24.] Nick's tailored school uniform lies at the bottom of a shallow grave dug into the earth. Two wildflowers are laid at the head of the grave. The tip of a shovel hits the ground with a CHK sound. Jordan kneels wordlessly in front of the grave. The scene pulls outwards, revealing Jordan and the grave are at the top of a hill, marked by a tall tree. Stephanie's car rests at the foot of the hill, where Stephanie and Mina lean against its side. Mina: [I don't regret what I said last night, but still, it's hard.] Stephanie: [Hm?] Mina: [I guess... I'm torn. Nick told them so many times in the end that he... was a boy. My parents were horrible to reject him after all that. But... I also remember how they cared for him all those years. So many sleepless nights.] In a flashback, Mrs. Cho kneels by the side of Nick's bed, watching him sleep with a weary expression on her face. Nick wears a surgical mask, and faces away from her. Mina: [They really loved him. So, are they good people deep down?] Stephanie looks at her with a sorrowful expression.

Jordan: [Once he is laid to rest with his true name… his soul will be able to move on peacefully.] Mrs. Cho remains on the floor in Mr. Cho’s arms, sobbing quietly. Mina looks down somberly. Stephanie: [Jordan…] Jordan, their face turned away from the others: [I’m not doing this for any of you. I’m doing this for Nick.]

Mina’s apology

Mina: [I knew— we all knew— that he wanted to be buried as Nick. He told us many times in the end. But when the time came to prepare for the funeral… I didn’t speak up.] Flashback to Nick’s funeral, where Mina stands before a featureless crowd in front of a tombstone. Mina, from the present, off-screen: [I thought: “how can I go against my parents in this when we’re both in grief?”] Past Mina looks with blank, lifeless eyes at the tombstone. It reads: [Monica Cho. 2006-2021. Beloved daugher and sister.] Present-day Mina: [But in the end… I was only thinking of myself!] Tears roll down her cheeks. She is a mirror image of the dead-eyed flashback Mina, creating the appearance of a conversation between past and present versions.
