Sadly, closing the Statue of Liberty is entirely symbolic of what this nation is now. We should probably remove the New Colossus plaque before it reopens. That’s not who we are anymore. Heartbreaking.

If our taxes would actually go down as a result of these terrible cuts, I’d gladly donate the savings to organizations like this. This is the type of program I want my tax dollars to support. They are *inside* my personal priorities. But alas I am not a billionaire and expect to pay my usual taxes.

I’ve always wished we never ignored the first phrase of the 2nd Amendment, “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State…” A well regulated militia with the common goal of preserving democracy would be nice to have right about now.
