As an LA resident, I can confirm that LA isn’t a war zone. I took my daughter on the metro to see the Angel City game at BMO stadium last night without incident. ICE is the problem. They raided a local mall near me and did random stops. They are the ones causing chaos. Not the people of LA.

If you don’t like the tariffs, just remember that Congress could take back their authority over tariffs at anytime. They gave it to the Pres under the RTAA and later bills. They can take it all back.

You know the best way to fight against Russia’s use of asylum seekers as “hybrid warfare?” Welcome the asylum seekers! In fact create a legal pathway that allows them to come legally. It’s only anti-immigrant sentiment and racism that makes this “warfare”. www.nytimes.com/2024/02/10/w...

PEPFAR is at risk of not being renewed by US Congress.

It is estimated to have saved over 20 million lives so far, and even now averts over a million deaths annually.

In my view this is the most important risk to global health we face today.

Is there anything more stressful than when the playoff game goes to PKs and your child is the goalie? But, she saved 2 and scored one to win the game.

Does anyone here have contacts to the US or UK embassy in Chad? I’m trying to help a 17 year old boy who was essentially kidnapped by his abusive mom get back to the US. Boy has UK citizenship.

Potentially controversial opinion: the US should evacuate anyone who wants to leave Gaza. Why? (1) right thing to do. (2) It denies Hamas human shields. (3) takes away a talking point from Hamas. You know are going to use cases of mothers crying over dead kids to bolster their case for war.

Private donors gave more than $350M to support election administration in 2020. Many critics argued that these grants swung the election from Trump to Biden. In a new paper, @apoorvalal.com and I find that these grants did not provide Democrats a noticeable advantage.
