Mekosuchus inexpectata, a small, terrestrial crocodillian. They had specialized teeth than could crush shells, like those of snails or maybe even crabs.

Meiolania mackayi, a horned turtle with a spiked tail and a heavy, armored shell. They may be the smallest of the genus. They were slow-moving inhabitants of lowland forests and woodlands searching for fruits, leaves and tougher plant matter to munch on

Finally, there were several scenes where the animals were anthropomorphized, in a way they didn’t do for the dinosaurs.
Oh, & they skipped the American Lion! And the other elephants besides mammoths!

The other Prehistoric Planet seasons create this picture of Maastrichtian dinosaur life as a single, present world that we can observe in its complexity, in each environment. I was hoping for something like that.

Also, the enormous wonder of the Ice Age, to my mind, is the various assemblages of animals, that lived right where anyone is currently sitting, alongside the assemblages that exist today. We really didn’t see much of this.
