just finished "Ace of Spades" and this last page of the annotated chapter stuck out to me
handwriting that reads "(cont.) For me learning about it when I was a teenager, it almost felt helpless trying to do anything about it. I hope that in reading Ace of Spades, you will see that while the future can sometimes feel bleak & impossible, progress is made every time we speak about our experiences. We aren't our painful histories or present, we are so much more and we deserve happy endings. One of the greatest things about Chiamaka and Devon is that they still chose to love at the end. They chose to love each other, they chose to love & protect their community. They chose to love themselves. That's ultimately my main message from Ace of Spades. Burn that shit down & love freely/fearlessly
