What does this standard of affordability entail? If it’s grants + out of pocket + no loans, that’s a very short list of options for most.

We wouldn’t tell aspiring homeowners to only buy a house that didn’t require a mortgage. We’d advise taking on debt reasonable to means & the value of the asset
Should we continue to encourage kids to go to college ? Or push them to take up a trade ?

I believe in college. Learning how to learn, IMO, is a critical life skill. Being exposed to people of different backgrounds, makes yiu wiser

Qualifier- it should be a school you can afford.

We should make sure students are aware of all of their options and those options’ pros and cons. More students need access to high-quality postsecondary advising to find the next step that best meets the intersection of aptitudes, aspirations, affordability, and outcomes.
