flowers for algernon provides a very special hell for anyone who is disabled — in any way. it taps into a lot of primal fears for me, and things i’ve already experienced. (when charlie realizes his coworker friends were making fun of him i was reminded of some stuff i realized as a kid)

- the ghosts of heaven (exposed me to nonlinear storytelling… the song of destiny section resonated with me in particular.)
- farenheit 451 (ray bradbury is a proto denpa genre author. in this essay i will— (this is a joke))
- gratitude (a series of essays by oliver sacks that always makes me cry)
