Hey, it’s Madison. You may not know me yet, but you could if you wanted? 💛
I want a quiet, rainy fall day in the mid 60°’s, a large cup of coffee, a fat book and no responsibilities.

I see a lot of videos of people complaining about the declining quality of books these days. And while they bring up a lot of great, valid points, I can’t help but be disappointed to see that the examples they provide are often books I enjoy.

If you’re an avid reader who is on the fence about writing your own story, I highly encourage you to give it a try. There is nothing more satisfying or fulfilling than reading a story that tailored exactly to you and what you enjoy. One of the best gifts you can give yourself.

I don’t know what writer needs to hear this but taking days off of writing to rest your hands is crucial. Overworking yourself to burn out has consequences. Like pain. Lots and lots of pain. 😖

Every season is spooky season when you’re writing a gothic romance 🖤

There’s nothing I love more than a self indulgent poem that will never see the light of day.

My best poems are completely spontaneous, a random thought followed to the end. A happy surprise.

Writing Update:

The goods news is that after taking a short break, I have had a lot of major breakthroughs on my plot and feel excited to get some new words down. 🥰

The bad news is I realized I have to cut two characters that I absolutely love but just aren’t working for the story. 💔

Ok I finally watched Sinners. Excellent casting. Phenomenal performance. Perfect soundtrack. I loved the vampires, the action scenes, the romance! And that bittersweet ending 😩 Definitely going on my list of favorite movies to watch in the fall.

I keep adding new books to my TBR as if I won’t be lost in the rabbit hole that is zodiac academy for the next three months 🤡

If your 1st job is in any kind of creative field, no matter it is, then your 2nd job is to protect your mental & physical health so that you can continue to show up for yourself & your work. Whatever that means/looks like to you. You don’t have to explain, apologize for or defend this to anybody.

Writing a first draft is like a fever dream.

Do y’all ever procrastinate reading because you don’t want your book to end? What book is it?

If you’re in Austin and don’t have a copy of Seek Me In The Orange yet, you can pick one up at Book People on North Lamar! 🧡 Not only are you getting a cute, cozy read that’s going to make your day but you’re also supporting a local indie author (very cool, very Austin.) 🤠🫶 #booksky

How to make (this) writer happy: raiding the school supplies 📚 ✏️ 🤓 I absolutely cannot resist a purple pen and I’m over the moon about these 🥰 Can’t wait to sit down and start planning my next few chapters for Project DT!

I’ve barely written anything all week, I can’t seem to concentrate to save my life. Pls pray for me.

Why did I start writing? There was a time when no one was listening. #poetry

Next month is my debut poetry book’s first anniversary and if I am being honest, I still don’t know what it means for me to be a poet out loud. I’m staring at my book and still can’t comprehend my thoughts are now a real physical thing others can touch.
