I've started keeping a "failure log" in my journal to track times I messed up and (hopefully) a lesson I learned from it. First hurdle to using it more is just admitting to myself something was a mistake heh.

Signed up for my next powerlifting meet! It's in 11 weeks. I'm doing my 5k in 2 days. After that, running is going on the back burner, but I still want to keep it up so I don't have to start from scratch when I want to push it again.

Book 5 of 2025 finished, Kindred by Octavia E. Butler. Continuing my mission to read all her books, I think I'll go for the Patternist series next. Like the Parable books, Kindred is a scary read given current trends and how easy it can be for people to adapt to and accept horrific situations

Made go in p5js. My scoring algorithm is very naive at the moment, you have to manually remove all dead stones and it won't correctly handle seki but it's a start:

The 3rd book I finished this year was Born to Run by Christopher McDougall. Not about the throw away my running shoes yet but am definitely trying to focusing on enjoying the feeling of running rather than just suffering through to meet fitness goals.

3rd powerlifting goal reached on the last day of January: 180 kg deadlift. Now, to tackle getting the 100 kg bench, then I'll cross off hitting 1/2/3/4 plates in the Big 4.

C25K Week 7, Day 2 done. After a week of awful aqi running on treadmills, it felt good to run outside again. The 20+ minute jogs are feeling easier.

Second powerlifting goal of the year reached: 60kg overhead press. This one wasn't too hard to get, but I hadn't had OHP in my programming in a while, added them back in as a T1 when I started gzclp

First powerlifting goal of the year accomplished: 140 kg (308 lb) squat. And I did it weighing 10 kg less than I was during my comp in November, so I'm in a lower weight class now.

Air quality in Bangkok has been bad this week, so I did week 6 of c25k on treadmills. Up to 22 min continous jog. No more walking intervals for the next 3 weeks as I work up to 30 minutes jogging/running

TIL some people drive automatics with 2 feet. Heard a metaphor about taking your left foot off the brake before pressing the gas with your right. Was confused bc I thought everyone only used their right foot for both pedals

Finished Week 5 of c25k. Was worried about being able to run/jog for 20 minutes continuously but managed to pull it off. Finishing the program feels doable now

Hit a rep pr today on deadlifts: 155 kg for 6 (after 4 sets of 3). Hitting 4 plates is in sight!

Worked up to squatting sets of 10 reps of 100 kg in training. I feel like this is a good milestone for a dad. Now, when I tell my kids about my workout, I can say, "It feels like I just lifted a ton... oh wait, I did!"
