the idea that lots of gamedevs are secretly using ai is booster bullshit

what on earth would I use genAI tools for? Coming up with ideas? Writing? It’s shit at those

making 3D models? Coding stuff? It’s shit at that too

oh but it’s faster maybe? Did I mention it’s shit at things?

seems important

Sorry to hear this. I sincerely hope it doesn't limit your options.
I will have to watch now as I have this exact same issue. Inevitably, whenever I think of any new idea I will then immediately start thinking about the myriad of reasons it would be very difficult to actually produce. Certainly kills the vibe.

Spent this weekend working on some new areas and props for Something in the Water #gamedev #indiedev
Course I failed to realise that using hooks isn't super useful for actually getting the animation into Godot... whoops... 😅 Had to export to alembic, reimport that file back into blender and then, using a handy script I found online, create a shape key for each frame and animate those... Phew!

OUT NOW! Apparatus: Exanimus is now available on Steam!

15% launch discount is active for 7 days!
Well it took a while to work out how to do this but I've just finished this animatable #lowpoly hospital curtain in #blender. Very useful exercise as I learnt a lot about stuff I've never touched before - like Hooks and Drivers. #gamedev

Hey #PitchYaGame!
I'm making an atmospheric 3d platformer where you're a robot pole-jumping through an underground complex!

🏃- Unique staff-based movement
🏚- Huge abandoned megastructure
🎞- Wordless story to piece together

The game comes out the 10th of November!
Wishlist it here: s.team/a/2980260
I am feeling this! Been thinking similar things recently. I really struggle to sustain motivation/effort on longer projects.
You're developing in Godot right? Hope you don't mind me saying but I'd be interested in taking a look if you wanted a second pair of eyes. No upfront payment necessary. Just DM me if you're interested.
The original and only legitimate vibe coding.
I second that. Seems like it would be useful to know what innocuous feature could be a dealbreaker for someone if nothing else.

Physical accuracy begone! It looks great.
That's cool. I assume that means you can have hundreds of 'lights' without a super high performance impact?
Is that a hot take these days? I always assumed everyone considered it a classic.
I can imagine them being the denizens of a surreal dungeoncrawler.
As I scrolled past I legit initially thought it was a painting. :)
This looks so so good! The colours are incredible.
