What a time to be alive! ✨

Mac OS 7.6 for CHRP on an iMac G3 (Rev A) 💿… which was previously limited to running Mac OS 8.

Ooo yes! Let’s do a speed test… with SCSI! 🤣

The only other record I’ve seen online was from a post where someone had a Motorola prototype system with a version 7.6 CHRP on the hard drive.

Speaking of which… 👀

A tease of something amazingly exciting... Mac OS 8 for CHRP PowerPC systems! 😳

I'm working to get this CD archived properly... (along with it's friends) 💿

Super thankful to the amazing people who helped make this happen. ❤️

I have both, what makes the AppleSauce stand out is the very powerful yet simple to use GUI app.

Plus the ability to easily click a “retry bad” button so the bad sectors are re-read without having to read the whole disk again.

Maybe that’s something the GW can do now, but it couldn’t ages ago.

Tron in 3D, at this Laser IMAX theater was hands-done the best 3D films I’ve experienced. It felt like I was in a theme park ride, really sad they don’t release 3D Blu-ray discs in this country anymore.

If you go see it, see it on a huge screen in 3D - it really added to the fun ride.

The app (w/ this hardware) allows the disks to be simultaneously saved in all the popular Apple II disk formats (.DO, .DSK or .WOZ), with the main selling point of being able to do flux-level images.

There are likely other solutions but since I already had my AppleSauce, this one works for me.

Woo-hoo! I’m now set up to properly archive Apple II 5.25” disks! 💾

Some of the others weren't so lucky... 🫠

Whoa, I found another floppy from original Macintosh team member Joanna Hoffman! 😳

It contains the earliest version of ResEdit I’ve seen, v1.0 D4 - from 1985! 💾

It makes me very sad seeing silly prices for vintage 🍎CDs & disks. 💾

I enjoy getting these and archiving them onto the Internet Archive & Macintosh Garden for fellow geeks & future enthusiasts to enjoy.

I do this with my own funds, but these dumb prices ensure a lot of them will remain lost! 😓

Step 1. Purchase No Man's Sky
Step 2. Name ships after old computers
Step 3. Uh... ??? profit !

IT FREAKIN' WORKS! 🎉

Here's a 30 sec clip of when it sprang to life:

Here's HOW I got it working & how I backed up ALL the data from it:

This was NO small task. Huge thanks to EVERYONE who helped me get here! ❤️🤗 What a journey...

Last week I brought home this CHONK 🪨 of a 10 megabyte hard drive, a Tecmar Mac Drive, from VCF Midwest.

It connects over the SERIAL port and works with the Mac 128k!

Have you ever used or seen one before? 🤔 Let me know, I wanna try and get it working! 💥🔨

MACLAN Connect for MS-DOS, turns your PC into an AppleTalk server!* 💾🍏

I got this at VCF Midwest this year, inside has v1.1 disks, plus pre-release copies of 2.0.1, neat! This archive also includes the Mac admin utility for System 6.

*Requires networking hardware

Another vintage Mac disk archived! 💾

This is a SCSI hard drive management software for Macintosh. It also had very interesting folding packaging, which I've also scanned and uploaded.

Although the disk label says v2.30, the version on it is v2.40. 🤷‍♂️

Like weird Cisco presentations from 1994? 🔮

Check out this find! 💾

This Cisco Catalyst "596-1293/catalyst" presentation from 1994 was on 2 floppies... each which had part of a .sea file on it... except that file was itself compressed via DiskDoubler document! 😵

I picked up this CHONK of a Tecmar Hard Drive for the Macintosh 128K/512K at VCF Midwest. It connects using a 9-pin serial cable... 😮

Would any plain ol' PC style serial cable work here? Or do I need some type of null modem adapter, etc? The only Apple DE9 serial cables I have are for ImageWriters.
