Dr of the analyse-your-power-structures not the medically-helpful type. Work related to Tiriti law research, justice for sexual violence research, Kōtare Trust. Almost always thinking about food. Tauiwi/pākehā, she/her.
I once was at a London tube station when a drunk guy offered me an empty bag of Macca fries. My programming kicked in immediately: "bro, you know I can't grab your ghost chips!" It would've been a beautiful moment if there was another Kiwi around but, alas, all the Brits I was with were baffled.

Also, for anyone in Welly, I highly recommend the WT exhibition at the Museum of Wellington. It's small but powerful, with some amazing photography documenting some of the rich history of this important (and still very much needed!) institution.

Brunch: I haven't been to Amano or Ortolana in yonks but am told they're still reliably delicious. I've only had dinner at Fed Deli but it's always been a winner. Scarecrow is tasty, and opposite the Art Gallery if you want to visit. Honey Cafe had good food and was quiet when I went last year.

Dinner: I went to Ima a few years back and thought it was great. I hear rave reviews of Gemmayze St but haven't tried it myself. Mezze Bar is a classic for a reason.

Ooh! Between covid and my Scottish ancestors whispering their frugality in my ear, I actually haven't eaten out that much these last few years, but I do keep a list of places I either have been to and enjoyed or have heard good things about and would like to try. Is that central Auckland...

I misread this as "shithead day" and wondered which politician had taken that crown.
