Yes, and the fact that so many men can hold this position is an indictment of how we conceive of sex and consent, including but not only statutory. I can't even remember how many men I've talked to who admitted to actions that were, in fact, rape, but who would never consider themselves rapists.

The memes are great, humour can be an effective tool - AND let's also remember that there are real women behind this story.

Can anyone please tell me how to get a bit more local stuff and a bit less US-focussed content on Bluesky? Yes, it's Very Bad™ there, but it's also Pretty Fucking Terrible and Getting Worse™ here, and I'd sometimes like to put more of my attention on these local waters that I'm in.

One thing you realise with the benefit of experience and time is that unfortunately rights won are never rights settled.

Rights are always contingent, precarious, and dependent … a slight shift, not even a major shift, in the window of viable politics will always, forever, threaten loss of them.
Wondering what politicians who don’t think abortion is healthcare think it is.

Actually don’t answer that.

Last night I dreamt that I visited NY with family. The whole city was covered with Nuka-Cola advertising, and the lift in Trump Tower was broken so all the rich people were being carried up the stairs by poor workers. Anyway, I think I might be a seer.
