My favorite part of Don't Look Up is where the CEO argues that his company mining the planet-killing asteroid for it's minerals would 'end all poverty and injustice'. Very similar to some of those AI claims.
Such a way of thinking is either extremely naïve, or (much more likely) extremely malicious.

when you learn something, you personally get to benefit from it. but in a gen AI model, a billionaire gets your learning and human brain preferences and desires and choices for free. Stop teaching a machine to make things. You are doing work for them for free

I'm a few days into switching to Clip Studio Paint and that program seems to be actually designed by artists (instead of brand managers and vendor lock-in minded business people). Would recommend, so far.
