When you mentioned not seeing it, I looked closer and saw a flash as the page loaded. Chrome is mistaking the page for Portuguese and translating it to English. No idea why. I've told Chrome not to translate the site now. This should fix it. Meta tags might help prevent this, but could cause issues.

@clublog.org Is this a typo in the mode? Looks like it should be Data, not Date.

What a great advent calendar for a tinkerer/maker. Was given it this morning. A quick project per day will be fun.

I had my first 122GHz contact this evening with G6UAJ across the car park for a distance of 100m. Proves everything works. We plan some longer tests to see what range we can achieve. Paul has a dish, I’m just using a horn.

Rewound some 80m trifilar inductors today. Much neater than the last set I wound a decade ago. Let’s hope these are closer to the centre frequency than the last lot.

Looks like the German national warning test worked as expected. A few seconds early but certainly caught my attention.

14 years on Twitter and I held out joining despite tracking its uptake for much longer. Doing the same with Mastodon. Not putting any effort in to moving. Watching and waiting.

This is going well @tsohost. Have all your servers gone down at the same time?

A fairly thrown together station to operate the IOTA contest. Not even a computer interface. Certainly not very ergonomic. Rain expected. Let’s see how long I last.

Made it to the top of Scafell Pike for some SOTA fun.

Started a print which should take about 24h to complete. Think Octoprint is a little pessimistic about it though. Estimates are normally not too wild so I’m surprised to see it. The printer shows about 25h remaining. I’ll go with that.

Coax now on, rotators tested, switching tested electrically and antennas aligned. Maybe one day soon this will actually get a QSO. It’s taken 16 years and a house move to get this far.

Aiming to run the contest from a laptop and iPad tonight. What’s the worst thing that could go wrong?

It seems that whenever I order something which claims will arrive the same day (by 10pm) always changes to tomorrow by 10pm once the order goes through. Is this common? I think out of the 6-7 times I've tried it, all but one arrived the following day.

Seems McDonalds Mead Way is running their POS on the cheap. 😂

Perfect day for the heating to be replaced. Brrrr.

Has anyone seen or had experience with auto switching the traditional coax switches using servos? Assuming the servo has enough torque I would expect a 3D printed chassis over the top could rotate the knob. Before I start buying things I thought I would ask. Thoughts?

Any ARM experts have some advice? Trying to run Invoke-Sqlcmd in a deployment script. It works locally. It works in cloud shell. It doesn't work when deploying the template. Images show an extract of the script and the errors returned. #arm #azure @AzureSupport

Had my first iOS app approved on the AppStore. Matching Android version coming soon once any final bugs are squashed. It’s a companion app to for loading geo referenced images into a DMS I developed using Azure.

Thursday night meant more 5GHz tests. Tested various antennas. Small panels were easiest to use, grid antenna had the highest SNR and the dish elevation couldn't be made low enough (I assume) so didn't perform as well as expected. Couldn't find a way to side mount the dish.

Another 5ghz path test with G1ERM across Swindon. Still a lot of bodges but gradually coming together.
November 20, 2024 at 8:20 PM
Doing some experiments up at Barbury Castle tonight with Darren, G1ERM. All hardware working after a year long break.

Great Apr 1 joke from @StackOverflow. Otherwise, 99% of the dev workforce is screwed. haha

Is this SNR (38.1) comparable with what you’re getting? What SNR do you get on the CW beacon with what dish size? Think I’ve tweaked it enough but need to be sure. #QO100
