Back to the ordo amoris: ironically, if that’s the only moral consideration, you’d have to endorse a huge percentage of unauthorized border crossing. Why should a parent prioritize the needs and desires of foreign citizens over their children who would benefit from migration to a strong economy?

In Christianity, the goal is not to be anti-leftist, conservative or progressive but to be faithful to all Scripture commands. Earthly partisan lenses will dilute this perspective.

Could be worse. Could be Grudem. 😅
So I'm teaching an asynchronous theology survey, leaving me little time for lecture (just brief video recordings). Needing a textbook exhaustive in subject matter, I decided to use Erickson, despite avoiding such books my whole career. Day 2 of course prep, and I already have regrets.

It's lonely being sick and quarantined, but at least I have the likes of Athanasius, Gregory Nazianzen, and Augustine to keep me company.

Also, no one prepared me for the fact that the worst part about being sick as a new dad is not being able to pick up and hold my 10 month old daughter, especially when she starts crawling toward me. 😭

Definitely worse than the fever or headaches.
Well, what was supposed to be my first week in office at my new church is turning out to be a week sick at home instead. 😅

This. 👇
Less theology done by reactionary, self-appointed “public theologians” who qualify themselves to speak to every issue of the day.

More theology done by those who settle in a lane of conviction and develop a theology through praxis and study over a lifetime.

From some old notes - William Perkins's 10 Steps of Conversion. While this matches the experience of many Christians, note the systematizing of the *subjective* internal spiritual life. This is what the Puritans excelled at - and also their burden. (Sorry for blurriness - think of it as a metaphor.)

Seven demons may yet plague Syria, replacing the demon of Assad. Or Syria might, in God’s own time, slowly recover from its decades of nightmares, and emerge into a relative stability. Christians there, and hopefully around the world, will pray it is so. providencemag.com/2024/12/syri...
