Potter and ceramics instructor; see my work at @lynngoodmanporcelain. Also SFF book fanatic
I haven’t posted for ages; I haven’t been in the studio much due to health issues, but I’m back now.
I used up the last of some black stoneware, and used up some 1# chunks of porcelain wedged about 4 months ago. Feels good! Looking forward to finishing them next week😊

We cut open a spaghetti squash that had been sitting for 3? 4? weeks, and the seeds had sprouted. Surprise! Cooking the squash, not cooking the sprouts😄

I’m doing a big clean-up/re-org in my studio. Today I found ancient paperwork from my business from the 80s to mid-2010s. Into the recycle, clean sweep! Except for my original certificate of authority from the 80s, that’s history!
BUT…what to do with my hoard of actual physical slides? Garbage?

I’m watching the Dr Who marathon and greatly enjoying catching up. Realizing, seeing so many one after another, there is a ton of running in every episode. We’re calling it the Dr Who workout😄

Shipping last minute work to a gallery, didn’t have the correct boxes, had to frankenstein one. Pray for me🤪
I did surround with lots of crumpled paper, more corrugated cardboard on top, lots of loose fill, and tape. Lots of tape 😄 I THINK everything is solid🙄

There have been a bunch of posts about donuts, and the posters’ adamant preferences. I don’t much care about brand. BUT…My donuts do need to be gluten-free and vegan or there will be consequences. And I like them plain, maybe some cinnamon. Any brand that can do that is fine by me.

The Brooklyn Ceramic Arts Tour, May 18/19, is fast approaching. I might be ready by then😄

BrooklynCeramicArtsTour.com for the Brooklyn-wide map and info.

See me, and 19 other wonderful ceramic artists, at the OA Can Factory (listed as in Park Slope on the map). Visit Brooklyn, and see great art!

New marbleized plates (and shards of the big one that didn’t make it) going into today’s bisque firing. Next weekend I hope they will be glazed and in place at BWAC (481 Van Brunt Street, Brooklyn, 11231, weekends), for the season opening. I’ll be there on Sunday. Come visit!

I’m playing with marbleized clay—dark brown stoneware and porcelain. I don’t know if it will lead to a body of work, but I’m having fun. Now to figure out glazing😊

Is anyone here going to/at NCECA? Please drop by the Clay Art Center booth, G08, to see my mugs and a bunch of fabulous mugs by amazing ceramic artists! Through this Saturday in Richmond, VA. If you can’t get there, find them on instagram @clayartcenter , @nceca

Some trays! Sending these to Brookfield Craft Center, in CT, where they will be displayed along with my usual mugs and ramen bowls. If you’re close-by, go say hi to the lovely people who run this nonprofit!

Hello art lovers! I am participating in the Clay Art Center’s Hand in Hand auction fundraiser. There is lots of beautiful ceramic art to bid on (mostly functional, across all price points). Take a look! givergy.us/handinhand20...

I’ve been making some pieces with black stoneware and blue porcelain, instead of my usual porcelain. I needed to test glazes because I knew that my usual glazes weren’t going to look the same. I tried some that I thought might look good, and was mostly wrong. More testing in order!

Finally seeing Barbie tonight…it appears that we have the entire theater to ourselves!

The mugs that were wrapped yesterday…I got the images in place. Next: bisque firing and glazing. Progress! I just need to make a bunch more😄

It’s September—which means I’m in the throes of holiday crazy. I will be cranking out as much as I can possibly push out over the next couple of months. Here are some ramens-to-be, mugs (under plastic), bowls and trays. Lots more coming!

My lovely neighbors have a beautiful passion fruit vine—really, a fence—with both flowers and fruit. So lush! I live in an apartment, upstairs, and live vicariously through them
