I talk a lot about MCAS and TTRPGs.
Canadian-Australian living in Alberta.
Probably won't follow you if you're American. I get enough of that on every other social platform.
Occasional Christian-posting. Occasional Ace-posting.

Just putting this out there, I want to teach people how to sew (via video call) this year, if you want sewing support let's chat!

I have a degree in Apparel Technology, and I need a way to support myself that doesn't exacerbate my MCAS, online sewing coaching is something I'd LOVE to do.

normalise serving chocolate milk at parties
I do not drink because I have almost no tolerance for it anymore (one margarita is too much).

If you are hosting a party, I recommend also stocking:
-fancy ginger beer
-coconut water
-premium juices like lychee and guava
-apple cider with cinnamon
-Italian sodas
-sparkling water

Lots of options!

I should continue trying to get into Schitt's Creek. I'm like, 8-10 episodes in to the first season (it has taken me about four years to get this far) and it hasn't clicked yet but nearly everyone says it takes a while to find its feet.
Dan Levy openly says that Schitt's Creek would not have survived anywhere except the CBC because it was weird and took a season or so to find its feet... Just for reference if you wanna know the ROI on this approach to supporting creative things.
Canada made weird tv shows because it was all being done with government funded art grant money so they fell in this wacky middle ground between “shoestring budget” and “no expectation to generate shareholder value” which is really the best way to make art

WAIT ANGELA ANACONDA IS CANADIAN??

I watched that as a kid in Australia.

Also it's why I even know what side starboard and port are.
The best of Canadian tv is somewhere between Cyber Six, Angela anaconda, the log drivers waltz and Yvon of the yukon...

And you can request books from libraries and they might get them. Or get interlibrary loans. If you are like me and have massive amounts of executive dysfunction, there's now e-books and audiobooks. And using your library means that it is more likely to be funded.

I do not understand people trying to justify book piracy when libraries exist. I know
that it's not always possible to get every book from a library, but when I've not been able to buy books, I've still had plenty to read from libraries.

I have so much respect for people who are 60+ who seek ADHD assessments after a family history is discovered. These are some of my most gratifying assessments if I ever have the privilege of doing them. Helping people understand why their lives have been difficult beyond personal blame is humbling.

Chronic illness people, does anyone have recommendations for a hypermobility-aware physiotherapist in the Boston area? (Or who can do online consultations?)

Asking for a friend. Welcome to repost this.

SO hyped for advent to start so I can play my advent playlist.

"Eat the rich" and "I'm so tired of waiting" and "when will life ever get better in this hopeless mess of a world" songs hit REAL GOOD.

People love to pretend like pastel QAnon and RFK and anti-vaxx moms are just a function of bored privilege and ignorance, but the reality is much more complex.

These anti-medical birth movements cross class and race lines and exploit very real gendered trauma from medical sexism related to birth.

The world would be immensely better if more religions and their believers had even a tenth of the dedication the Sikhs do to doing good for people with no gatekeeping or expectations of anything other than "you are a fellow human in need and we can help you"
Folks, if you are hungry, please contact your local Sikh gurdwara. Or just show up for langar, which most gurdwaras do several times a week, for a free meal. Lots also do weekly or monthly drives giving out groceries.

No conversion necessary. Feeding anyone who is hungry is a key part of Sikhism.
A lady on TikTok has been calling churches pretending to be a mother with a baby who needs formula and several churches turned her away. But wouldn’t you know that when she called a Mosque (Islamic Center of Charlotte) they immediately said yes.

I'm like 95% sure I got a super mild case of covid a couple weeks ago and the reason it was mild is due to antihistamines + masking.
Yet more anecdata for the COVID/antihistamine preventative link: just ran the 1-week-after-travel RT-LAMP test, and I do not have COVID! And I was a lot less paranoid about perfect masking this time: we even ate inside a restaurant (for the first time since the summer of '21!)

Dang. And Canada's road fatality rate is still too freaking high.
Insane but true fact: making US roads as safe as Canadian, Australian, or European roads would save more lives than eliminating murder from the US.

Billie Eilish asked an important question: "If you’re a billionaire, why are you a billionaire?"

There are FIVE ways to accumulate a billion dollars:

1) Profiting from a monopoly
2) Insider-trading
3) Political payoffs
4) Fraud
5) Inheritance

Billionaires are the result of a failed system.

Wearing a mask at your medical appointments is important not just to protect yourself, and to protect other patients, but also to protect the ever-dwindling number of healthcare providers.

The people helping us all live healthier lives deserve health protection, too.

The pharmaceutical industry is built on low quality evidence because ethically double blinding life saving medicine is not possible due to violating ethical principles.
