5½ days and counting waiting for my Dad to have an Urgent MRI ordered by the stroke team. Just hoping it happens before everything grinds to a halt again at the weekend. 😥

Been sat in A&E overnight with a family member with multiple issues going on. So often recently I have second guessed advocating for Physician Assistants at our Board. Tonight was an exemplar of how they can be a superb and seamless asset to the team. Thank you.

Urgent valuing of the service user voice to drive improvement in the NHS is required. The imbalance of power in challenging poor care leads to gaslighting and trauma and often does not deliver improvements. The NHS offers the same improvement (in)actions time and again report after report.
Making a complaint is a right enshrined in the NHS Constitution.

Yet, our new research shows people have low confidence in the NHS complaints system and struggle to navigate it. This prevents them from complaining if they get poor care.

We HAVE to stand up for NHS Whistleblowers - because one day this could be any of us…. we all know there is a long and illustrious history of the NHS forcing people out who stand up for patient safety.

I'm very interested in the field of implementation science.

I frequently quote a paper that found it takes an average of 17 years from "the evidence supports this change in clinical practice" to an actual change in clinical practice.

Implementation Science Seeks to Translate Research Into Practice
This Medical News feature discusses how implementation science seeks to narrow the often yearslong gap between the development of evidence-based practices and their routine use in the real world.

Had a conversation today about the difference between "kindness" & "niceness" in leadership so decided to post about it. The article & graphic explain why, as leaders, we should choose kindness over niceness:

We shouldn't be relying on personal resilience to prop up systemic failure.
In our first RCN Fellows blog of the year, Michael Traynor says the trend for workplace ‘resilience’ training wrongly places responsibility on the individual rather than a failing system.
