It has been winter-cold here in NC for the last few days, and I'm tired of it already. No snow ❄️ yet but it's certainly been cold enough to snow, at least overnight.

When do you put your tree up?
I’m a 👍and today is the day!

I'm a firm believer that each season should have it's fair share of time for decorations. Spooky season until Nov 1, then Tom Turkey, then Santa. And not before!

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you have a day filled with happiness and too much food.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 #1 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐬𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧? In our family, it's watching the Macy's parade. The cooking, prep, setting the table, etc happens in the background while Macy's provides our oldest family tradition.

📚 Autonomous by Annalee Newitz
⭐⭐⭐💫 3.5/5
I finished Autonomous this morning. While the concept of the book intrigued me, the execution fell flat for me. Parts were very peteitious (multiple pages of internal dialog). That's just not my thing. But if it's yours, this book has had very good reviews.

The #ThwaitesGlacier is already melting. But what if it suddenly collapsed? That's the terrifying premise of Ice Crash: Antarctica. This is an all-out, seismic event that unleashes chaos across the globe.

📚 The Forgotten Chapter by Pam Jenoff
⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4/5
Its not often a short story can have such a big impact. 1943 London: Paige falls for an American GI who comes by her shop every day. As she falls for him, she realizes he's got a secret. One that could change the course of the war. #historicalfiction

📚 Podkayne of Mars by Robert A. Heinlein
🚀🚀🚀🚀4/5
#Classicscifi from 1963 that stands the test of time. One of the things that early writers never got right about the 21st Cen. is cell phones but by pg 29 Heinlein proves why he's the best: Uncle Tom finishes his call & stuffs his phone in his pocket.

📚 The Leap Year Gene of Kit McKinley, by Shelley Wood
⭐⭐⭐⭐4/5

A fresh new story idea! We've all heard it said time and time again that there are no new stories under the sun; just rehashed versions of the same stories. Not so! This was a bold new story.

Highlighy recommend.

📚 To the Moon and Back by Eliana Ramage

👩‍🚀👩‍🚀👩‍🚀👩‍🚀👩‍🚀 5/5
The story of one woman's dream to become an astronaut, even if the odds are stacked against her. Because not only is she female, she's also Cherokee and gay. What an engaging story! Unputdownable! #spacebooks #nativeamerican #fiction

What's the best thing about November? For those in the US, perhaps its Thanksgiving, or maybe Black Friday shopping.

For me, the Carolina Renaissance Festival is always a November thing with my daughter Sarah, coming up in a couple of weeks! (photo from last year)

📚 Girl One, Sarah Flannery Murphy
⭐⭐⭐⭐4/5
For the first 130 pgs, I wondered "Why parthenogenesis?" Why clone females? Unless it's replacement parts for the rich. It lacks genetic diversity & causes societal problems. Then all was revealed & the story took off!

Bk 3 of my #scifi #book stack.
