All it guarantees is US farmers won’t proportionally benefit as China’s soybean demand grows because they’ve shifted to Argentina and Brazil

Good, he’s a bozo

Isn’t it ironic that Americans are so scared of radical islamists and countries instituting law based upon their faith, but they’ll cheer when the US government does it with Christianity? Cognitive dissonance at its highest level

Musk Bezos and zucc are just losers masquerading as rich, interesting men

Toward the end it kinda points out that we need people like the person Platner portrays himself to be, so I don’t think it’s necessarily an endorsement but more of a broad suggestion
October 28, 2025 at 4:44 PM
I haven’t seen the damning evidence that he knew as far back as you suggest. That Substack article is more broadly pointing at a need for coalition building and that you’re going to have to accept imperfect people if you want people in your tent. It’s just using the Platner stuff as a pretext
October 28, 2025 at 4:43 PM
This type of response just assures that people who’ve made mistakes, but their world view over time has evolved won’t feel welcome with the leftist coalition. To create some kind of opposition or revolution you need numbers, not isolation.
October 27, 2025 at 12:15 PM
Obviously, but that’s kind of a straw man argument. It’s not the point of the quote or that Substack post in general. The point is that if you’re not willing to accept potentially imperfect candidates, you’re in trouble.
October 27, 2025 at 12:15 PM
Bluesky users are probably pretty chronically online and/or hypersensitive to that kind of imagery. I guarantee the vast majority of people wouldn’t associate it with nazis in real life. Also, it’s easy to say what you would’ve done in some hypothetical scenario that makes you sound like a hero
October 25, 2025 at 2:44 PM
It’s not a swastika? How many people if they saw that would identify it immediately as a Nazi symbol
October 25, 2025 at 12:19 PM
Not at all similar to the gestapo though, right?
October 24, 2025 at 8:17 PM
I’m not saying you have to settle for anything. What I’m saying is, the establishment alternative may be all that’s left if your qualifications for a candidate are so rigid. It’s a very isolating way to judge the validity of people’s view of the world. It doesn’t create community.
October 24, 2025 at 8:16 PM
I ain’t touching that one 😂
October 24, 2025 at 7:54 PM
Beyond that, the point of that quote is that if your requirements for ideal political candidates include people without lewd internet posts and who have had consistent beliefs as far back as you can trace, you’ll be stuck with more 70+ year old institutional democrats who serve party over people
