Sheriff McMahill addressed the audience, emphasizing the vital role of family and loved ones in supporting these new analysts as they begin their careers. The work ahead will be challenging, but with determination and support, they will succeed.

For Officer Pena Morga, meeting the officers who inspired her was a full-circle moment. And for them, it was a touching reminder that even the smallest acts of service can leave a lifelong impact.

Although she couldn’t remember their names, our team was able to track them down - Southeast Area Command Sergeant Tannar Schmidt and TAC Officer Brian Artis, who now serves as a Training and Counseling Officer at the Police Academy.

Officer Pena Morga never forgot how those officers made her feel. Their kindness and compassion inspired her to one day wear the same uniform and make the same difference in someone else’s life.

As part of this recognition, Resorts World Las Vegas, a proud Good Ticket partner, presented the officers with a well-deserved staycation package — including a luxury stay, dining credit, and tickets to a headlining show.

Days later, she sent a heartfelt letter to Metro Police expressing her gratitude, a reminder that law enforcement officers often serve as caregivers, mentors, and social workers in moments that matter most.

When these officers arrived, they took the time to listen and saw the humanity in the situation. For more than 30 minutes, they sat with the woman, helped her work through her thoughts, and guided her toward a place of calm and clarity.

Events like this highlight the unity, teamwork, and friendly competition that make Las Vegas such an amazing place to live.
