But children aren't allowed to use calculators until after they've learned the fundamentals of math. Some educators and admins (and definitely companies) want to put AI into the elementary school. That's where it is different.

I see differences and similarities. I don't think it reaches the bar of child abuse. What I've experienced is society always adjusts. It's here to stay. It needs some guard rails. My concern with A.I. is the sexism and other bias. Which shouldn't be a surprise, since A.I. sadly reflects society.

Was it Massumi or Deleuze who said all forms of interaction require a virtual interface or mediation? I guess the point of AI is for companies to insert themselves into that space and charge rent for it.
