Happy St Katherine's Day to all scholars, librarians, and Katherines. May you win an argument against an annoying man today, in the true spirit of Katherine herself.

Possible identity theft warning @giffgaffnetwork.bsky.social has blocked my phone without warning in a way that has cut me off from medical services and from my dependents, including my critically ill father. I hope to report this to the police, as there may be wider implications 🧵

This could not come soon enough. Most people I speak to are not aware abortion is still criminalised here.

Conferencing while autistic... I forgot just how much the big conferences take it out of me, but #BSA2025 was still a good day today. Also I am crap at networking. But at least I wore my #NACOA tee and talked about SUD bereavement, so there's a win there :)

It doesn't do any good to say "let's get disabled people into employment" if at the very same time you're cutting the support that *keeps* disabled people in employment. Here's my letter to the Guardian about Labour's cuts to Access to Work funding:

There are no words that sufficiently describe this level of cruelty and sadism.

Officially on the job market now & actively applying. It is an interesting process with such varied approaches to forms and formats - interview only, interview and presentation, tasks to complete. I have also variously been asked to provide references ahead, or after. Oh and right to work. Fun times

Ooof. That graph is a story of its own; I've seen people use a victim's name to explain it, but it was not just that one murder and media carrying the story, as someone claims in the comments. It galvanised something that was already there, experienced, felt, witnessed in contacts with the whole CJS
But another theory behind crime’s growing importance may have little to do with total numbers at all

For reasons I explain in the piece, Britain appears to have lost faith in the ability of police to solve crime. Trust in police is plummeting - a pattern seen more starkly among women…
