Also want to thank the two cadets who stopped and offered me a ride as I walked up the hill from the hotel to Christl Arena, just as a matter of routine. Not the kind of thing that happens most places you go.
A lot more on the Coach K side of things coming in the AM.
(and then down and out again)
Duke 114, Army 59. Indiana State up next Friday, then back east to play Kansas at MSG next Tuesday.

Dame Sarr with 19, Isaiah Evans 17, Patrick Ngongba 16 and Cameron Boozer and Darren Harris 15 each.
Central Connecticut was 334th (out of 365) in KenPom going into that game. Lost to Quinnipiac by 22 last week. All the way up to 304 now!
Freddie went from down and out to up and up for it.
Nic Dowd runs into Frederik Andersen, and chaos ensues, including Logan Stankoven dropping the gloves with Martin Fehervary.
Dame Sarr with 14 and Isaiah Evans with 13 as Duke holds a comfortable 49-30 lead at the half at Army.

Cam Boozer with a quiet seven on only three field-goal attempts. Army kept it within single digits for a while but Duke closed the half on a 14-4 run.
Dame Sarr, under no obligation to be patriotic, hangs 13 on Army in eight minutes. Duke up 29-17 at the under-12.
“Tonight is so very special,” Krzyzewski told the crowd. “You’re not going to see 10 better guys on the court all year in college basketball than the 10 guys that will be on the court for the 40 minutes you will watch. These young men represent the two best institutions in our country.”
Pretty surreal to see Duke warming up here at West Point.

Chris Carrawell taking photos with fans on the concourse.

Found one award tonight’s honoree didn’t win.

Wish John Feinstein was here to see this.

Duke is no military academy, but so much of Mike Krzyzewski’s Army background is baked into what the Blue Devils do in basketball, even now.

Tuesday’s game at West Point isn’t just a tribute to him; it’s an acknowledgement of a shared lineage that endures.

Good morning from West Point, where many of Mike Krzyzewski’s Army classmates and former Army players have gathered to see him honored before Duke’s Veterans Day visit tonight.
I would argue … it’s pretty much everyone’s fault BUT Duke’s!
The ACC’s College Football Playoff hopes might be cooked — and it could all be Duke’s fault linktr.ee/ogtriangleme...
But some do turn pro before being commissioned…

(I do get your joke)

Jon Scheyer: “Our program through the years has replicated or represented, I think, the discipline that you see at West Point or in our military. And that definitely comes from his background.”

Coaches and QBs and even owners change, the Panthers’ postgame after a division loss never does.
Dave Canales: "Missed opportunities."

Pump fake for Rico on that celebration
Another huge noncon game today as NC State plays Southern Cal in Charlotte (3 pm, ESPN).
Using the Sagarin ratings as a proxy, potential ACC champions Duke and Virginia are both currently trailing the leaders of the American (USF) and Sun Belt (JMU).

There’s a nightmare CFP scenario out there for the ACC that isn’t going away after yesterday’s results.
