This is also a fantastic time for NIH grant reviewers to be really careful with their critique language. Of course you want to use the Gold Standard concepts. And avoid the trigger words. Look, you can like the grant for whatever reasons you want and write approving critiques that pass muster.

First highlight...

Senator Capito started of the discussion saying that the bill contains AN INCREASE for NIH.

The details are not available, but the bill will be released ofter the hearing.

This is not a done-deal, but it does show where the Senate is on a bipartisan basis.

Oh great… the same new PIs who were hit by a global pandemic just as they started are now trying to renew their grants and get tenure when the funding agencies are actively being destroyed. But sure.... that COVID tenure clock extension reeaaallly made a difference....

A tradition started in the other app and now continuing it her. I want to highlight Miss. Kylie Jones on submitting her MS work on DTI changes in a model pre-eclampsia for review. Fingers crossed for a smooth review process.

Great researcher, mentor, and person. Dr. Young’s lab would be a great place to be @jaredwyoung.bsky.social
My lab is always open to all, we have several R01s and always happy to take people on, please feel free to reach out, especially those of historically excluded groups - as an immigrant and first gen, I know how tough it can be!
