Over the next few months, I am researching/writing stories about those who push back against a “post-truth” world - from all political persuasions & none.
This piece about the existential crisis of our time - climate change. Real, no matter who tells you otherwise.

Bravo to Tatiana Schlossberg for writing this heartbreaking piece and for the message inherent in it.
Sending love to her and her family.
And to the US health secretary, her cousin, RFK jr, maybe Tatiana’s story is the story that will move you. I hope.

It's been quite a week in US Politics.

This for you my celebration of Zohran Mamdani's win in New York City and some thinking too on how the Dems can learn from his campaign.

How do we hold our leaders to account if we don’t challenge them?

Sharing with you this Monday a piece that dissects the art of the interview: how a politician gets their message out, and how a reporter can and should challenge them.

How do we come back from this?

Seriously.
The Trump administration has made U.S. human-rights reports favorably evaluate countries the president likes, @anneapplebaum.bsky.social writes. Now the State Department portrays “Germany as more oppressive than El Salvador”:
Trump Has a New Definition of Human Rights
State Department reports portray Germany as more oppressive than El Salvador.

Is there a more callous expression to describe people? With lives and loves and futures …

In these times of great terror + cruelty for immigrants + their families in the US, this is a story about what is.

It is a particular anguish to hear an emaciated child, shoulder blades sharp and angular, tell a doctor that all he wants to eat are grapes + mangoes.
Shame on our leaders who allow this starvation to happen.

Trump's migration policies didn't happen out of nowhere. They've been building for years, cruel layer upon layer.
And who benefits?
Not local communities, that's for sure.
My conversation with The Academic connects at least some of the dots.

If you had managed not to notice before, what is unfolding in LA right now is exactly what Trump's migration policy looks like: terrorizing those who have no power.

“Attorney General Pam Bondi, who previously worked as a lobbyist for Qatar, signed off on the legality of Qatar’s airplane gift.”

So much that is wrong with this. With inspector generals fired, no guardrails and a Republican Party that has lost its spine.
